The Proven Step by Step Guide to Cavity
Wall Insulation Claims.

What is Cavity Wall Insulation?

Cavity Wall Insulation is an insulation system injected into the cavities of a property, after it has been built. This is known as Retro Fit.

It is used to improve a building’s energy efficiency by filling the space between the interior and exterior wall of a building with a filling that immobilises the movement of air. This cuts down the amount of heat that is lost through the walls thereby lower your heating bills and reduce your carbon footprint.

During construction of new buildings, cavities are often filled with glass fibre wool or rock wool panels placed between the two leaves (sides) of the wall, but many other building insulation materials offer various advantages and many others are also widely used. For existing buildings that were not built with insulated cavities, a fibrous material such as cellulose insulation or glass wool is blown into the cavity through suitably drilled holes until it fills the entire wall.

Brief Description about what Cavity Wall Insulation claims is all about?

Over the last 16 years, millions of homes across the UK have been insulated with cavity wall as part of an initiative pushed by the government because of the target they had to cut the amount of CO2 we are creating.

As a result of that most homeowners were under the impression that’s cavity wall would save them thousands of pounds each year on energy bills. But what happened was a lot of Rouge Company’s jumped on the bandwagon because the fitters were paid per job (the more they installed the more they earned), which lead to poor fitting.

In order to earn more money the fitters were cutting corner from all parts of the business completing up to three insulation jobs a day when in the actual sense it should take them a day to do one.

Due to a lack of workmanship a large number of property owners have reported substandard installations leading to problems with damp walls, condensation, mould, wallpaper peeling and damage to their homes, which affected the properties value.

In some cases, the damp and mould resulting from the insulation can cause health problems or exacerbate existing conditions, particularly respiratory conditions.

Who is affected by Cavity Wall Insulation Problems?

Sadly, many people.

Anyone who has had cavity wall installed in the last 15 years is likely to have problems. This is because the cavity insulation has either been installed incorrectly or should never have been installed on their type of property. Most issues come to light after 2-3 years of having the cavity insulation installed.

“There are over 6 million homes that had cavity wall insulation installed under a government grant scheme. Of these, approximately 60% have since experienced issues such as damp, mould and condensation..”

In many cases, the insulation was mis-sold to customers who either did not want it done or their property was not suitable to have it installed. A lot of customers were pressurised into the installation by door to door salesmen telling them they had to have it installed. Furthermore, over 70% of the install companies have now gone bust.

Anywhere from houses built in the 1900’s up to around 1985 will have been targeted for government funded insulation. Exposure zones and wind driven areas are typical examples of where cavity insulation should not have been installed. Having said that, houses all over the UK are affected, regardless of the exposure zone they are in.

Review by Mr Smiths

Exactly as the company name suggests!!

This company knows all there is to know about cavity wall installation.I can’t thank the whole team enough.

In September 2014, I was again offered a free cavity wall installation grant which is apparently a government grant just for pensioners on the higher rate.

As always I told the sales person i did not want it installed in my walls as the cavity was put between my walls for a reason as over the last few years I have had different sales people say the same thing. It wasn’t until the sales person explained how I have had to pay more on my bill than my next door neighbour because he had his insulated and in doing so contributed to the carbon reduction in our post code. He said as my home was suitable for installation and I chose not to have it done, I would be liable for a percentage cost added to my energy bills resulting in higher rates. Against my better judgement I agreed to have it installed.

As winter approached I definitely noticed a great improvement, my house was warmer and my heating bills were 35% cheaper for the first time in a couple of years. It was fantastic. I started to notice the rendering on the back wall was starting to crack and small lumps falling off the top right side, the spare bed room was also damp and mould started to appear in the bottom half of the back wall. I presumed it was because the rendering outside needed remodelling. I rang round to get some quotes from local builders ranging from £1700 to over £3000 just for the wall at the back of my house.

I couldn’t afford to have the whole house rendered, my son said he had seen a advertisement on Facebook and he entered my name and telephone number in the inquiries section. The next day I received a call from what is now cavityexperts4U. They asked me a few questions and arranged for a local chap to give me a quote, but when he arrived he was puzzled by the way the rendering appeared to crumbling. He wanted to know if I had noticed anything inside such as constantly having condescension on my windows I said yes, he said I think you would be wasting money having the wall rendered because it will be ok for a couple of years then start eroding again. He called his boss who then got in touch with a rick surveyor apparently from another department within the same company. I was totally shocked when he told me the cavity wall installation in my walls was not only soaking wet but had dropped down so the complete upper tier wasn’t insulated at all causing cold areas. Comparatively, he likened a cavity wall failure to a kind of cancer inside the walls slowly destroying the insides then rapidly causing major damage inside your home and out side like the damp and mould on my spare room and the back wall rendering. He also informed me the company had gone bust. This remarkable company that seems to know everything and any thing about cavities suggested I contact their legal department who would be able to arrange compensation for the poor quality cavity wall installation and the damage it had caused entirely free of any charges.

So far this company had sent 3 gentlemen to my home with each one willing to help me, offering advice and spending well over the allotted time to appraise each extremely different compliant I had at the moment without any quote for rendered services. Their reason being it’s a no win no fee agreement that will not cost me any penny & neither should I ever have to pay anything towards the legal costs that they would incur along the way through out the compensation claim. I was info I would receive enough compensation to put my home back together and a few pounds for the inconvenience it caused me that was over a year ago. On the 23rd of January 2018, I received a call from the lawyers asking me if I’d accept an out of court settlement figure of £17823.93. I was then asked if they could have my bank account details so they could transfer the full amount direct in to my bank account. I couldn’t believe it,

The next day I received a call from cavityexperts4U asking if they could give me a quote to extract the cavity installation and also pricing for the back wall to be rendered, I obviously couldn’t refuse. I was thinking to my self that this is how they make their money. However I was flabbergasted when the Total for extracting the installation and the rendering of my complete home front and back just over £5000.

Cavityexperts4U are what they say they are. Definitely EXPERTS every single member of this "extraordinary company" total experts in their own field and extremely knowledgeable in every other department connected with their business .

Thank you so much gentlemen.
